Consultation

I'm interested in receiving consultation to support me with implementing information I learned in a course. How can I find out if I am eligible for consultation?

Visit our Consultation page found within the toolbar at the top of every page. There you will find information on consultation services along with a form you can submit to request consultation services.

What type of consultation does IMPACT provide?

IMPACT Inclusion Specialists conduct classroom observations including recorded observations, reflective practice, and provide recommendations for strategies to support children with challenging behaviors and disabilities. Does IMPACT provide therapeutic services to children?

No, IMPACT does not provide therapeutic services to children. IMPACT's "client" is the early learning program, as we support educators and administrators in their practices to create inclusive environments for children. Visit our Consultation page found within the toolbar at the top of every page. There you will find information on consultation services along with a form you can submit to request consultation services.

Who does IMPACT consult with?

IMPACT Inclusion Specialists consult with teachers on inclusive best practices within the classroom including sensory strategies, visual supports, and environmental considerations to support children with challenging behaviors and disabilities in the classroom. We also consult with directors and administrators on inclusive program policies and practices to ensure programs can meet the needs of all children enrolled.

Courses

What type of online courses does IMPACT offer?

IMPACT's online courses are modularized and have recorded audio narration and visuals including text, images, and videos. Courses include activities that support your learning and can be completed on-demand. Courses include printable handouts that you can take with you to use in your work.

What browser do you recommend for completing the courses?

Google Chrome.

How do I navigate through a course?

Course navigation is easy through the course player. You can move between lessons and activities by toggling within the panel on the left-hand side. However, within each lesson you can only navigate backwards and must wait for the content to end on each slide before moving forward.

In a course, when I click “next” in the course slides it won't allow me to go forward. Why is this happening?

Each course lesson has the content set to only show the current slide and previous slides. A slide will not move forward until all content has been presented. In order to successfully complete a course, the Course Quiz, and to be issued a Certificate of Completion, each participant must view the content in full.

Within a course, can I go back and review content from previous lessons that I have already completed?

Yes. When opening the course lesson that you have already completed, you will see the prompt, “Do you want to resume where you left off?” Select "Yes". This should start you at the end of the lesson content where you can toggle backwards directly to the content you would like to review.

What is the difference between a Knowledge Check and a Course Quiz?

A Knowledge Check is included at the end of each lesson to check your own understanding of the material. While we encourage you to do your best when taking a Knowledge Check, a passing score is not required for course completion. A Course Quiz is included at the end of every course and a passing score of 80% is required for a Certificate of Completion.

How do I know which questions I got right or wrong on a Knowledge Check?

After you complete a Knowledge Check you will be shown how many questions you got right and wrong. To see which questions you got right or wrong and the correct answers, click on Feedback Report before clicking "next" to move to the next activity.

How many attempts do I have to pass a Course Quiz?

Each participant will receive unlimited attempts to pass a Course Quiz. A passing score is 80%.

I'm a director and I want to register all of my staff for a course. Do they all need to register individually or do you offer bulk registration?

We make it easy to purchase courses for multiple staff to attend without each teacher having to register and pay individually.  Just submit the Bulk Course Request Form (located at the bottom of the Course page) and someone will get back to you to learn more about your needs.  We will send you an invoice so you only need to make one transaction and we will automatically enroll your staff into the courses you want them to take. After you submit the form, you can expect to hear back from us within 3 business days.

I'm having a hard time registering for a course. Who can I reach out to?

Please reach out to impacttechsupport@nwcenter.org and someone will get back to you within 3 business days.

Something isn't working in a course. Who do I reach out to for support?

Please reach out to impacttechsupport@nwcenter.org and someone will get back to you within 2 business days.

Can my friend and I do a course together in the same login and both get credit?

No. Credit will only be issued to registered individuals.

How long do I have to complete a course?

Courses expire 12 months after the date of purchase. So you will have up to 12 months to complete the course, pass the Course Quiz and receive your Certificate of Completion.

Once completed, can I go back in to access the course indefinitely, or is there an expiration date?

We are always working to make sure courses have the most up-to-date information and current best practices. To make sure all information you are receiving is current, courses expire 12 months from the original purchase date. You are welcome to download and keep the printable handouts included with the course.

Will I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes. Upon completing all course requirements and Course Quiz, you will be issued a Certificate of Completion that you can download.

I'd like to ask a clarifying question about a course. Who can I ask?

The discussion board located within each course is a great place to leave any questions. Discussion boards are included in each course and are monitored weekly by instructors. You can also email: impactcourses@nwcenter.org

Can I request a customized course?

We do not offer customized courses at this time but are always open to suggestions for course topic ideas. We'd love to hear from you! Please email us at impactcourses@nwcenter.org with your suggestions!

Who are the courses designed for?

Early learning educators and childcare providers, but many other early childhood professionals will find the information provided useful. Content is developed for the birth through six age range and content may be applicable up to age ten (K-3rd grade).

I'm a parent or caregiver. Can I take your courses?

Yes! Although our courses were designed for professionals in early learning, we have received positive feedback from families who have attended our courses and found them valuable.

When will new courses be released?

We are always working on developing new content.  We try to post new courses monthly.

I live outside of Washington State - can I access your courses?

Yes! And you will receive a certificate after completion, however, we are not able to enter continuing education credits into any state system outside of the Washington State MERIT registry at this time. We are looking to add in additional states to our approved list.  If you live in a state that requires agency endorsement to offer continuing education hours and you'd benefit from this, please let us know.  You can email us at impactcourses@nwcenter.org and tell us which state(s) are needed.

Washington State: Can I get STARS credit for taking the same course twice?

You can take the same course again for STARS credit if it's a new calendar year.  However, STARS hours are not given for duplicate courses completed within the same calendar year.  Credit is only issued once per purchased course.  If you would like STARS credit for a course you have previously taken, you would need to purchase it again.

Washington State: When can I expect to see my STARS hours in my MERIT account?

At the end of each month, we run reports for each of our courses on who completed them and then enter credits into the Merit registry. So STARS hours will be entered by the middle of the following month.  For example, for February’s courses we would have STARS hours entered by March 15th.

Washington State: Can I get OSPI Clock Hours for IMPACT courses and trainings?

Yes, IMPACT is an approved OSPI Clock Hour provider as you can verify through this link.  To request clock hours after completing the course and receiving the Certificate of Completion, users can email impactcourses@nwcenter.org to request the OSPI Form to submit for hours.
